How do you know when a debt collection letter is really from a legit law firm? Many collection agencies pose as law firms. There are law firms that are collection agencies. The short name is CA’s. This “CA” can be mistaken for collection agency CA, however, when you become familiar with the jargon of this industry you will understand the context.

Law firms as debt collectors are VERY profitable. The law firm can file a lawsuit quickly. From the outside, you will NOT be able to tell that the law firm is a debt collector. Some companies appear to be law firms but do not have ANY attorneys in their office.

Look at the court docket and see the default judgments and that will show the attorney serves summons and makes GOBS of money with default judgments. How do they make money with defualt judgments? The bank account and paycheck will be garnished. You will not know it has been garnished until AFTER it happens.

When you receive a letter in the mail that you suspect is from a CA – collection attorney, write to them immediately to validate the debt.

If you receive a summons at your residence, contact your attorney. You can fight it and go to court and win. You will need a consumer attorney that specializes in debt collection cases. Do not ignore the letters and think this will fade away. The intimidation factor is how the debt collectors succeed with consumers.
